Peace Lutheran Church Preschool

Peace Lutheran Preschool provides a rich, play-based Christian preschool program for children ages 2 through 5 years. Children enrolled at Peace thrive in an environment that allows them to learn through play. Families may choose from flexible scheduling options ranging from the ‘traditional’ two mornings per week to full time preschool with wrap around care, or anything in between.
Mission
At Peace Lutheran Preschool, our mission is to create and maintain a preschool program in which staff and parents contribute jointly to foster a kind and caring environment where children are nurtured and provided opportunities to develop socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually to their fullest potential.
Goals
- To help develop a child’s self-esteem and sense of self worth
- To help children learn a sense of respect for self, others and the world around us
- To stimulate every child’s desire to learn
- To provide a curriculum that speaks to each child’s ability to progress at their own rate and interest.
- To help develop an awareness of good physical and emotional health
Curriculum
It is our belief that children learn best through play. The Creative Curriculum for early Childhood is our chosen curriculum because it is consistent with our philosophy. Creative Curriculum, along with Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards are used to observe, guide and plan daily activities. Teachers meet a child’s overall needs by planning activities that address the development of the ‘whole child’. Teachers provide opportunities for hands on activities that promote creativity, self-esteem, pride in accomplishment, independence and a solid foundation for future learning.

Parent Involvement
Peace Preschool welcomes and encourages parent involvement. Parents are invited to join us in the classroom, on field trips, or to serve on the Board of Directors. Our hope is that you will become familiar with our program and will be eager to participate in our activities when opportunities become available. We encourage you to visit our preschool at any time; however, we ask that siblings do not accompany you when volunteering in the classroom.
Oversight
Peace Lutheran Preschool is licensed through the State of Wisconsin: Department of Children and Families. As a ministry of Peace Lutheran Church, Peace Preschool is governed by a Board of Directors. The Board consists of 6 Peace Lutheran Church members and 2 parent representatives. Peace Preschool is a non-profit organization.
Hours of Operation:
- Early drop-off: 7:15 – 8 a.m.
- Preschool session: 8 – 11 a.m.
- Lunch Bunch: 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
- Extended Afternoon: 12:30 – 3:30 p.m.
Peace Preschool Staff
Sandra Briesath, the Preschool’s director, is a member of Peace Lutheran Church. Sandra has more than 20 years of experience working as a preschool administrator, 12 of those years as the director of Luther Memorial Preschool in Madison, WI. Sandra has a degree from UW Madison, attended graduate school at Florida State University and earned her Wisconsin Professional Child Care Credential UW Milwaukee.
